Role: I was the Web Designer for a small business, that wanted to take their platform from Instagram to an ecommerce website.
Project Brief :
StarMagic is a small black owned business with a focus on spiritual goods and services as well entertaining for special life events. My client wanted a simple and modern website, with their picture as the large banner at the head of the homepage. They also wanted it to be as minimal as possible but still followed their visual aesthetic for their brand.
I was tasked with designing the entirety of their site, and making it easy to discover the items they were selling and for visitors to find all the other services they have to offer besides the goods being sold.
Connecting the Brand and Product on the Web
It was important to also display the testimonials about customer’s experience, and include small details about products offered for the start of the customer’s journey especially due to the nature of the services offering.
Placing these products cards here, with a color blocked testimonial placed right below build the confidence of customer and leads them straight to the product page. I’d call this a decision making points of the page during it’s customer journey.
This client was proud of her brand, and had a minimalistic aesthetic in mind and had a passion for photography and videography. She requested that Hero image be of herself in front of here mobile van.
Large and bold images of herself, customers and the product are seen throughout of website, highlighting the client’s passion for her work, her spirituality and products. These images built a personal connection between customer, and brand where they can see themselves in the client but as part of the community
Originally. she had wanted her entire page to be the same golden yellow background as seen in the logo with white text. However, after a conversation going over web accessibility standards and web demonstration of it’s impact on user’s we settled on white web pages and color blocks of the brand’s colors throughout the site.
