Roomly

Role : UX Designer to design prototype dashboard for a startup with a goal in helping individuals discover the best meeting spaces that suit their needs and meet all their requirements hassle free.

Project Brief :

I was given the opportunity to design for a developing startup that wanted to have a slight twist on typical corporate standard for booking pages for meetings and office spaces. My focus for the project was to design the sign up/register page as well as the dashboard for the booking site.

I was also tasked in building the style guides, and help develop the brand identity for this prototype startup as it was still in the early phases of refinement as a brand and company.

The Design System

Roomly was designed to have an inviting and friendly look and feel that would bring a kind of cheerfulness and vitality to the page that would appeal to both visitors and users. To achieve this I chose colors that were more vibrant than the standard colors used in more corporate settings. Later, these colors became edited at will based on user research and testing.

Building the Dashboard

Here I’ve used illustrations convey playfulness and empathy into the design. The illustrations themselves are also in a bold color palette of bright pinks and yellows with a few highlights of black. With brighter colors, it’s meant share the brand’s personality as one that’s relaxed, at ease and none of the stuffy seriousness work culture typically has.

The dashboard has everything a user may need to get started in booking a room without having to leave the dashboard page. The goal for this page was to reduce the amount of steps it takes to complete a single task. In and out was the name of the game here but also opportunities to discover or receive reminders of upcoming events.

Here there are plenty of filters that allow users to select a room based off needs and priority or to simply see a more general selection. The compare option was feature included to help users make a more informed decision that would allow them to leave this page satisfied and at ease with their choices.
